Lip Products. Many of Them.

Monday, August 7, 2017

Whoops, hit that publish button a little early there! All fixed.

My lips are ridiculously dry all the time and I have no idea why. I drink a ton of water, I keep a humidifier by my bedside but the default setting for my smooch is flaky and rough. Gross, I know.

I try to keep a lip balm within six feet of me at all times, to encourage reapplication before they get to the cracked, bloody stage. One in my purse, one in my book bag, one at my nightstand. Another at my desk, one that just floats around, frequently in my pocket. You get the idea. This would be how I ended up with an insane number of lip products, as you now see before you.

Nooni Water Blending Lip Mask. $15, Ulta.

I've only recently opened this one, but it's nice! Pretty big disk of very emollient lip mask, this will last forever. I really like plant oil based lip products like this one over mineral oil ones, the former actually feel pretty nourishing while the later keep moisture from leaving. Mild scent that fades to background, but still slightly discernible. No taste. Comes with a tiny scoop.

Tatcha Gold Camellia Nourishing Lip Balm*, $36,  Sephora.

I'm finally down to the last 1/10! It's taken years and years. Not a bad balm - lightly nourishing, tasteless, scentless- but the luxurious gold disappeared really quickly. Next time I'd rather get the Spun version, which has gold flakes dispersed throughout the balm.

[Aritaum] Ginger Sugar Lip Scrub. $6ish, YesStyle.

It's like sandy petroleum jelly. Doesn't rinse away cleanly, needs wiping to remove.

Manyo Factory Treatment Lip Balm. $17, eBay.

This balm lives in my purse, slim little tube. Smells like Tiger Balm, puts me off my appetite when on my lips. Slightly cooling, lightly moisturizing. Mostly finished. Probably won't repurchase.

[A'Pieu] Honey & Milk Lip Sleeping Pack. $4ish, SweetCorea.

A thick, slightly honeyed lip balm. I worked my way through half of them and I'm so tired of it! There's nothing wrong with it, it's just ok at best at softening and nourishing lips. This has been at my bedside for months. I'm using it on my cuticles in the hops that I might use it up sometime this year. The Honey & Milk line also has a stick balm.

Bite Agave Lip Mask, $26, Sephora.

I was very taken with this balm for the first few months I had it. Thick salve texture that melts into a nourishing slip. Sweet taste. I can apply this at night knowing I'll wake up to soft and supple lips. A tiny bit of product is leaking slightly out of the flared, sealed end.

Manyo Factory Lip Serum Treatment Essence in Apple Juice. $10, MelodyCosme

Freebie from a MelodyCosme order. Smooth plastic applicator. It smells intensely of apple juice concentrate (or Miranda sode! Very apple-y) very briefly, but the scent dissipates very quickly and there's no taste. This feels so nice on the lips, a little gooey and sticky, but the most moisturizing out of my collection.

My favorite hands down from this bunch would be the Manyo Factory Lip Serum Treatment Essence, though I do also enjoy the thicker Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask overnight.

What kind of lip products have you been using lately? Do you have a favorite balm you repurchase often?
