BECCA Ultimate Coverage Concealing Creme

You know what is crazy? I've been using the same concealer for the last four years. I'd occasionally mess around with another product, but I always come back to the same palette of Graftobian Hi Def Glamour Creme. This time I went hunting for something new altogether and came home with BECCA Ultimate Coverage Concealing Creme.

I've used this exact palette for longer than I've known my husband! You really get your money's worth with pro products. This palette is finally nearing the end of its life so I used a gift card from the holidays to buy BECCA Ultimate Coverage Concealing Creme. I liked that there were multiple undertones to choose from, not just pink and yellow. Altogether there are 12 shades. I decided that Tahini was my closest match - light beige with golden yellow undertones.

It comes in a small glass pot, not unlike gel eyeliner. It's not a lot of product ($32 for 4.5g) but it offers impressive coverage.

The texture is quite different from concealers that I have tried in the past. It's not super emollient and slick feeling. It's more slightly sticky. If you're familiar with that thick, slightly tacky feel of castor oil, you'll know what I mean. As it turns out, castor oil is the main ingredient in this particular concealer.

Ingredients:
Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Polybutene, Rhus Succedanea Fruit Wax, Kaolin, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Barium Sulfate, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Squalane, Zinc Chloride, Aluminum Hydroxide, Trihydroxystearin, Hydrogenated Polycyclopentadiene, Isopropyl Titanium Triisostearate, Sodium Lauroyl Aspartatel, Caprylyl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Hexylene Glycol. May Contain: Mica, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499).

It offers really great coverage if you can get over that slightly sticky feel. Forget using concealer brushes, I found that the heat from my fingertips helped melt the concealer for a great application. I skipped my usual synthetic Japonesque brush (other than around my eyebrows) and used my ring finger to lightly dot blemishes and discoloration. I think that if you have dry or delicaate skin, you'll feel like a brush makes this concealer tug and skin unpleasantly over your skin.

This is before concealer (and filling in my brows).

After applying BECCA Ultimate Coverage Concealing Creme lightly all over with a finger, light brush use around brows.

This type of product is just what I'm looking for, a lot of coverage but in a concentrated format. I had been considering Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer before I saw this in-store. Despite the castor oil base, it feels nowhere as oily as the Graftobian did but similarly, it never really dries but sort of sets instead. Most of the time I find that I'll use the BECCA for covering scars and just dust a light powder and it wears quite well, other than perhaps a blot here or there.

I'm not sure how this concealer will fair in the extreme heat, but for now it is a concealer that helps lock in moisture. BECCA Ultimate Coverage Concealing Creme is $32.
