Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide-On Pencil in Plushie

 Good afternoon!

Recently Sephora offered a neat little GWP with a code for a deluxe Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide On Pencil in Plushie and I quite happy to get one along with my Bite set. I've heard nice things about 24/7s, but my experience with them has been mediocre. The thing that I looked forward to the most was that the Velvet finish meant a matte formula, and I just about love everything more when matte.

Initially, the pencil swatched decently on my arm. The texture was very soft - too soft?- and I couldn't really get a precise line, it just glided too easily. The pigmentation was good but not exceptional and I found it to be a little patchy. The finish was ultra matte and it was very long lasting. The color was a nice plummy purple that went nicely with my eye color.

On my eye, I found that Plushie skipped more than it had on my arm. Perhaps because my arm is drier and the skin is not as smooth as my eye area, I'm thinking that the liner had "tooth"; the way soft artist's pastels need a rougher texture, to grab onto. Those little clumps that you see on my waterline? Those are actually little bits of liner that pilled and flaked off during application, not my mascara! I couldn't really draw an opaque line so going over the same area again and again made for patchy looking eyeliner. I used a matte black shadow and LORAC Delight eye shadow to darken the outer liner swoop and to give the look more dimension.

I used:
Brows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Duo Brow Powder in Granite
Eyes: LORAC Behind the Scenes Eye Primer, Lancome Definicils Mascara, "Princess" lashes from eBay, Rock & Republic Fatalistic shadow, LORAC Delight shadow

It was a nice little GWP, but just not the best eyeliner I've used. In fact, I much prefer the Prestige Total Intensity Eyeliners as they have a better formula and are much more opaque with a single swipe.

Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide On Pencils are $24 each at Sephora.
