Some China Glaze New Bohemian Swatches & Review
Friday, August 3, 2012
I received two very interesting polishes in the mail yesterday. Two bottles from the newest China Glaze Collection- New Bohemian. They're very, very reflective polishes that absolutely dazzle.
First, I have Rare & Radiant. This color might look pretty familiar by now, I would call it an reincarnate of Chanel Peridot, Jessica Iridescent Eye, Gap Gold Rush, OPI Just Spotted the Lizard. A bright, intense gold color that transitions into green and teal.
The only other similar shade I own is Jessica Iridescent Eye (left). Rare & Radiant (right) has a stronger duochrome and appears more reflective to me, but also a little streakier and requires three coats where the Jessica needs two.
The other shade I have is Want My Bawdy. The duochome flash from blue to purple on this polish very weak, if it exists at all. However, it is a lovely color- the most saturated indigo indigo that is almost blinding in the sun. So, so very shiny. Pictures can't do it justice.
The formulas are on the thinner side, but apply very well. One thing that drives me a little nuts is the silver caps that China Glaze uses for specialty collections. They always chip or get scratched up, and look flimsy after that, which is unfortunate because their regular black handles are great. These shades stamp...but not as well as Jessica Iridescent Eye. However, I still really love these polishes. I love how intense Want My Bawdy is, and even though Rare & Radiant is not very unique, I like the pretty duochrome. In fact, even though I received these two polishes as press samples, I actually ended up ordering the rest of the collection. That's really rare for me! I know that a lot of the shades have similar counterparts in Nicole by OPI, Deborah Lippmann, etc but the China Glaze New Bohemian have a good formula and better prices and you can't really beat that.
Will you be picking up any colors from this collection? I like that the promotional pictures were very accurate this time around, in terms of color and duochrome. You better keep an eye out for them if you want them! This collection is limited edition. You can purchase these shades from the closest Sally Beauty Supply or online from etailers such as Head2ToeBeauty or Transdesign.
